Achieving Competence as an SLP Working with Singers
Asynchronous Webinar // 2 hours // 0.2 ASHA CEUs
Are you a student in an SLP program wanting to specialize in voice? A newly-hired SLP in voice looking to learn how to provide better care for your patients? Want to improve your practice working with singers, but not sure where to start?
“Achieving Competence as an SLP Working with Singers” will give you the tools you need to achieve competence in your therapeutic practice, even if you’ve never sung a note in your life! And as always, we will be actively practicing and demonstrating these skills during the course, so trash your slides and grab your keyboard, pitch pipe, or tuning app and get ready to sing.
We first presented “Achieving Competence” in February of 2024, and it is returning now as a fully asynchronous course that now has ASHA CEUs available! This course includes explanations of musical terms and voice types, addresses how to document what you’re hearing in the voice, and demonstrates foundational musical skills to kick-start your practice working with singers.
This two hour beginner level course will cover the musical skills and terminology that you need to know to treat any professional voice user.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
identify the skills necessary to confidently work with singers
employ basic musicianship skills for improved therapeutic modeling including pitch matching, keyboard use, and voice exercise creation
implement skills learned directly into therapeutic intervention when working with singers
